Darlene Malecha, 65

Darlene Mary Malecha, 65, of Montgomery, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Born on February 18, 1941 in New Prague, Darlene was a daughter of William and Mary (Sticha) Horejsi. She attended Catholic school in Veseli and graduated from New Prague High School. She married Roman Malecha on June 29, 1961 at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Veseli and lived in Montgomery ever since. She was a homemaker and also worked at Citizens State Bank and Skluzacek Oil, both in Montgomery. Darlene was a member of mission sewing and quilting and was a volunteer at Holy Redeemer Catholic School. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, flowers, gardening and cooking with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Cheryl (Bradley) Malecha, Montgomery and Carol (Paul) Meyer, Shakopee; two granddaughters, Lexy and Kayla Malecha, Montgomery; and a sister, Marion (Robert) Malecha, Battle Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Rev. David Barrett and Rev. George Grafsky officiating. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. Pallbearers were Mark, Duane, Danny, Russell, Paul and Jeff Malecha. Honorary pallbearers were Elizabeth Malecha, Denise Kane, Sandy McDonald, Mary Lu Bastyr and Kathleen Kading.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
