Darlene Thacker, 70,
Darlene F. Thacker, 70, of Chaska, died Monday, April 19, 2010, at her home.
Darlene was born in Lexington Township, rural Le Center, on March 14, 1940, a daughter of Jerry and Emma (Kadrlik) Bisek. She attended St. Wenceslaus School, New Prague High School, and graduated from Shakopee High School. Darlene married Sgt. James Doc Thacker in Excelsior on September 5, 1959. During their U.S. Army career, they lived in Kansas, near Paris, France, Augusta, GA, and then Excelsior. Darlene moved to Chaska after the death of her husband on May 9, 1998. For the past year and a half she had been residing at St. Simon's Island, GA, and just moved back to her home in Chaska the first week of April.
She is survived by children Timothy (Lisa K.) Thacker, Minnetonka, Lisa (Wardell) Darrington, St. Simon's Island, GA and David Thacker, Albertville; grandchildren Adam, Megan and David Thacker Jr.; a sister Rose Marie (Donald) Hauer, Heidelberg; sister-in-law Patricia (Terry) Shepherd, Bloomington, IL; brothers-in-law Don Hinthorn, Bloomington, IL and Bob Williams, Gilbertsville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents.
Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 23, at the Bertas Funeral Home in Chaska, with Rev. Thomas Joseph officiating.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Pallbearers were Tim and David Thacker, Wardell Darrington, Tim Fisher, Joe Crocker and Cory McCutchen.
Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
