Dawson Joseph Slechta is 2009 New Year's Baby

Dawson Joseph Slechta, son of David and Heather Slechta of Montgomery, arrived at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague at 6:13 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, bringing an early end to this year's New Year's Baby Contest sponsored by The New Prague Times.

Dawson and his family, which also includes 2-1/2 year-old Izabela, win a package of prizes from area businesses sponsoring this year's contest. Bonnie Stevenson of New Prague was the winner of the contest to guess the date and time of the arrival.
