Disaster Relief Center to leave Waterville
As Minnesota recovery efforts continue, Disaster Recovery Center hours will be changing and some centers will be consolidating. Beginning Thursday, Dec. 22, regular recovery center hours will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Sundays until further notice. However, centers will be closed on the Dec. 24 and 31 holiday weekends. Services provided by State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Le Sueur and Steele Counties will be transitioning to other centers on Thursday, Dec. 22 at noon. The centers have been operating out of the Senior Center in Waterville and the Old Cedarview Nursing Home in Owatonna.
To meet ongoing demand, the following centers remain open:
Blue Earth County Historic Courthouse, 204 S. 5th St., Mankato, MN and Waseca Public Safety Center, 303 S. State St., Waseca.
Help is still only a phone call away for survivors of the Sept. 21-24 flooding. Most of the services available at a DRC are also available on the FEMA Helpline that is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Call 800-621-3362. You can also register with FEMA online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by using the FEMA app.
