Donald J. Pexa, 67

Donald J. Pexa, 67, of Cologne, died on Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

He was born on July 13, 1937, at New Prague to Joseph and Helen (Hanzlik) Pexa Sr.

Don served in the Navy Reserve for three years. He was the owner of the Greenwood Inn of Cologne for 12 years and worked at Dangerfield’s Restaurant in Shakopee. He also worked at FSI and currently was a bus driver at First Student in Chaska. Don enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, motorcycling and traveling. He was a past member of the Cologne Lions Club.

Don is survived by his children, Craig (and Kristi) Pexa, Cologne; Jay (and Jenny) Pexa, Shakopee; Todd (and Julie) Pexa, New Germany; Paul Pexa, Waconia; Shelly (and Geordie) Alfson, Blaine; the mother of his children, Lorraine Pexa, Faribault; 15 grandchildren; special friend, Jan Adams, Cologne; parents, Joseph and Helen Pexa Sr., New Prague; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe Pexa Jr., New Prague; Tom (and Margie) Pexa, New Prague; sister and brother-in-law, Gail (and Keith) Setterstrom, Northfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Lucy Pexa.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Rev. George Freeman officiated.

Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Pallbearers were Craig, Jay, Todd, Paul, Mathew, Kevin, Nick and Brett Pexa.

Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.
