Donn Myron Zimanske, 56

Donn Myron Zimanske, 56, of Lakeville died unexpectedly but peacefully on November 20, 2016. He was born on April 24, 1960 to Myron and Betty Zimanske and grew up on the family farm in Lonsdale. He married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Sticha, on September 28, 1985, and they joyfully raised their children, Jessica and Michael, in Lakeville.

Donn was a loyal and loving husband, father and friend, who cared deeply about each person in his life. He worked as a welder at UTC in Burnsville for 32 years and was an active volunteer with Theresa at their church.

Donn was a devoted partner and best friend to Theresa, always standing by her side and enjoying new experiences with their large circle of family and friends. He was also a proud father to Michael and Jessica. Donn and Michael shared a special father-son bond that carried beyond Michael’s death in 2005. Donn was Jessica’s biggest supporter, championing her writing and always offering his help with a paint brush. He was overjoyed to welcome son-in-law George into our family in 2014.

He was a selfless and humble man who always put others first. Both hard-working and faith-filled, Donn was always up for an adventure, whether it was a road trip with friends or a drive to just check something out. He enjoyed the Sunday paper, a good car wash and a salty bag of chips. He will be forever remembered for his laugh and his example of service to others.

Donn is survived by his wife, Theresa, of 31 years; daughter Jessica (George) Weinberger; mother Betty Zimanske; siblings Doug (Jean) Zimanske, Dale (Anne) Zimanske, and Darcy (Rich) Chlan; in-laws George (Diane) Sticha, Norbert (Arlene) Sticha, Marilyn (Kevin) Phelps, Gilbert (Sue) Sticha, Glen (Amy) Sticha, and Pauline (Tim) Anderson, with many extended family members and friends.

Donn was welcomed in Heaven by his son, Michael; father, Myron Zimanske; father and mother-in-law Stanley and Marion Sticha, and in-laws Francis and Bernie Nelson.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28 at All Saints Catholic Church, 19795 Holyoke Ave., Lakeville, with visitation 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27 at White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Trail, Lakeville, and one hour prior to Mass on Monday. A private interment at the church cemetery will follow at a later date.
