Dorothy Simek, 79

Dorothy A. Simek, 79, of Minneapolis, formerly of New Prague, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at The Lodge on Natchez Hospice in Elko.

Dorothy was born March 20, 1928, in New Prague, a daughter of Mathias and Anna (Maruska) Simek. Born and raised in New Prague, she attended St. Wenceslaus School, New Prague High School and the Minnesota School of Business. Dorothy lived in California for a few years after her education, then moved back to Minneapolis to live for the rest of her life. She did accounting work for Hennepin County, was a member of Incarnation Parish in Minneapolis and attended senior center activities. Dorothy was an avid reader and walker.

She is survived by two nieces, Elizabeth Betty Novak, Webster, and Ann Marie (James) Simon, New Prague; and two grandnephews, Dave Novak, Webster, and Al Novak, Veseli.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew-in-law, Albert Novak; brother and sister-in-law, John B. and Helen Simek.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Roger Hessian officiating. Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, New Prague. Pallbearers were Dave Novak and Al Novak.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
