DRS teams head to Regions

DRS teams set for Region playoffs

Six Dakota-Rice-Scott League baseball teams will compete in Regional playoffs starting Wednesday, Aug. 4.

Each team advanced by winning best-of-three playoff series within their division last week. Five of the six series were decided in two games.

In the Red Division, New Prague defeated Faribault 6-0 and 11-0. The first game was called after six innings due to rain. New Prague had a 13-0 lead at the time, but the official score was 6-0 since Faribault did not have a chance to bat in the seventh inning.

St. Patrick defeated Veseli in two games, 6-1 and 8-0.

IN the White Division, New Market defeated Shakopee 4-3 and 5-2, while St. Benedict beat Union Hill 8-5 and 12-7.

In the Blue Division, it was Prior Lake beating Lonsdale 4-3 and 6-0, and Webster defeating Montgomery 6-2, before Montgomery recovered to win 13-2 and 4-3.

Blue and Red winners will compete in the five-team Region 3C Tourney. On Wednesday, Prior Lake plays St. Patrick at Elko. On Friday New Prague is at Montgomery and Wednesdays winner plays Hampton at Cannon Falls. There will be two games on Sunday, Aug. 8, with pairings determined by the results of earlier games. The tourney continues Wednesday, Aug. 11, Friday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 15.
