Edith M. Flicek, 82

Edith M. Flicek, 82, of Shakopee, formerly of New Prague, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee.

Born March 3, 1924 in New Prague, Edith was a daughter of Albert J. and Julia (Matyas) Jelinek. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and New Prague High School. She married John T. Flicek on June 28, 1947 in New Prague. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2002. Edith was a homemaker and worked at Remes Drug and Woman's World in New Prague. She was a past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, member of American Legion Auxiliary and St. Wenceslaus CCW, a Girl Scout leader and on the board for the Cannon Valley Girl Scout Council. Edith was also active in the Birthday Club and Sewing Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Flicek and special friend Keith Fredrickson, Elko; a brother, Richard Jeff (Rita) Jelinek, New Prague; two sisters-in-law, Adeline Kennedy, Ogden, UT and Marie (Archie) Kocina, New Prague; one granddaughter, Ann Marie Lunning; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Colby and Anthony Tolzman. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Casketbearers were Jeffrey Jelinek, Max Jelinek, Kyle Tolzman, Jerry Flicek, Emil Flicek, Jr. and Jonathan Fredrickson.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with a CCW Rosary held at 7 p.m. Sunday.
