Edmund H. Walerius, 84, of New Prague, died on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.
Edmund was born on December 15, 1920, in Munich, ND, to Hubert and Mary (Weiers) Walerius. He attended schools in Union Hill, Blakely, Belle Plaine and New Prague. He was a graduate of New Prague High School.
Edmund Walerius and Ludmilla Unger were married On August 26, 1947, in New Prague. He was employed as a dairy farmer and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus.
Edmund is survived by his children: Thomas (Ann) Walerius, Plymouth, Barbara Hayden, Eagan, Charles (Gayl) Walerius, Marshall, Jerry (Mary) Walerius, New Prague, Randy (Susan) Walerius, London, England, Kenneth (Joan) Walerius, Prior Lake, Bruce Walerius, St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ludmilla, on October 4, 1992; his parents; and one sister, Ludmilla Meger.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Rev. George Freeman officiating. Homily was given by Deacon Len Shambour. Gift bearers were Milana, Andy and Michael Walerius. Eulogy was given by Tom Walerius. Music was provided by soloist, Kristin Walerius, organist, Kathy Heyda and the St. Wenceslaus Martha Choir.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Joel, Brett, Brian, Paul and Kristin Walerius, John and Lisa Hayden, and Jen Kale. Honorary casket bearers were also his grandchildren, Avi, Jake, Milana, Andy and Michael Walerius.
Visitation was at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, on Sunday, from 3 to 8 p.m., and on Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. A rosary was said by the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.
