Edward Beer, 90

Edward Francis Beer, 90, of Morristown, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at The Plum House Assisted Living Facility in Morristown.

Edward was born on October 16, 1920, in Le Center, to Louis and Frances (Tambornino) Beer. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Le Center. Edward joined the United States Army on February 3, 1942 and served until November 18, 1945. He worked as a Minnesota State Drivers License Examiner for 25 years and also for the Rice County Sheriff's Dept.

He was a member of the Morristown Legion and VFW, Elks and Moose Lodge and enjoyed his motorcycle, playing cards and dominoes, and going to Yuma, AZ, each winter for 20 years. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Edward is survived by his son, Dave (Mari) Beer, Morristown; grandsons Marcus (Katie) Beer, Brian (Kristina) Morrison, and Jacob Erkel; granddaughter Allison (John) Wagner; great-grandson Brennan Beer; a brother, George (Donna) Beer, Le Center; five sisters, Marie Miller and Louise Johnson, both of St. Peter, Jean (Mike) Kauffman, Arlington, Joan Johengen, Hackensack, and Margaret Parker, Glencoe; and godchildren, Ron Johnson and Mike Hagel.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine Hagel; and brothers, Leonard and Charles.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 23, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Military Honors were provided by the Le Center Area Veteran's Honor Guard. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Le Center Funeral Home.
