Elinor Mae Jabs, 89

Elinor Mae Jabs, 89, of Jordan passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 6, 1928, to Lloyd and Elsie (Scharf) Dubbe and was baptized at Zion Methodist Church in Lydia, Minnesota and confirmed at Fish Lake Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lydia.

Elinor grew up on the family farm in Lydia, where she was her dad’s right-hand man, milking cows, and taking care of their chickens and sheep.

She attended school in Lydia through the 8th grade. Elinor met the love of her life, Emil, on a blind date. They courted for two years before getting married on April 22, 1950. The married couple then purchased a farm in Jordan, and ended up raising 1000 laying hens and milking 46 cows.

They were also blessed with seven children. She loved her big garden and canning her harvests.

In 1964, they decided to get out of farming and built a new house on their land. Elinor spent many hours crocheting, raising her children and keeping Emil in line. The children fondly reflect that keeping “Dad in line” was really her “full time job”.

She was a very caring and loving wife and mother, never having a bad thing to say about anyone. Some of her grandchildren’s favorite memories are playing “Jaws” on her front steps and eating her yummy sketties. Anyone who knew Elinor was very blessed.

Elinor is survived by her children: Virgil “Butch” (Rosie) Jabs, Wayne Jabs, LeRoy (Kathy) Jabs, Myron (Laurie) Jabs, Gilbert (Dianne) Jabs, Linda (Robert) Nesbitt, Lois (Kurt) Riesgraf; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren (with two more on the way); Sister and Brother in Law, Betty (Rudolph) Fahrenkamp; Sister in Law, Adeline Hein; and Brother in Law, Elmer Jabs; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceeded in death by her husband of 66 years, Emil in 2016; parents, Lloyd and Elsie Dubbe; infant brother and sister; Mother and Father in Law, Martha and Rudolph Jabs; Brothers and Sisters in Law, Arnold Jabs, Julius and Marylou Jabs, William Hein and Grace Jabs.

Elinor’s Funeral Service will be on Monday, June 26th at 11:00am from St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan with Reverend Jeremy Glowicki. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8:00pm at Wagner Funeral Home, Jordan and 1 1⁄2 hours prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Andy and Scott Jabs, Michael and Dan Jabs, Tyler and Adam Nesbitt, David Jabs and Joe Riesgraf. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Sarah Vycital, Molly Crosby, Jodi Jabs, Jenna and Melanie Jabs, Amy and Jill Nesbitt, Ashley Schultz and Emily Riesgraf. Burial will follow the funeral service at Concord Hill Cemetery in Prior Lake with a luncheon back at the church.

Arrangements are with the Wagner Funeral Home of Jordan.
