Elizabeth Plonske, 80

Elizabeth Babe Plonske, 80, of Le Sueur, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the Gardenview Nursing Home in Le Sueur.

Born October 11, 1928, in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County, Babe was a daughter of Martin and Catherine (Weibeler) Meger. She attended SS. Peter & Paul's parochial grade schools in Belle Plaine and graduated from New Prague High School in 1946. She attended Mankato State College for teacher training and taught for a short time. Babe married Francis Fritz Plonske on May 24, 1950, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg. She taught school and farmed with her husband for many years. In 1968, they bought the Green Mill Bar in Le Sueur, which they owned and operated until 1983. Babe and her husband were avid supporters of Camp Courage Camperships, raising more than $10,000 in Camperships while owning the bar. Babe enjoyed her family, friends, and nature and life in the country.

She is survived by children Greg Plonske, Le Sueur, Dan Plonske, Le Sueur and Jim (Tess) Plonske, Le Sueur; grandchildren Jesse Doheny, (U.S.M.C.) and Zachary and Jeremy Plonske, Le Sueur; and a sister Mary Kay Ambroz.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; and brothers Joseph Bud Meger and Robert Meger.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur, with Rev. George Grafsky officiating.

Interment was at the Salem-Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur County.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, with a CCW Rosary held at 4 p.m., and parish prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home Friday from 8 to 10:45 a.m.
