Elizabeth Yoder, 82
Elizabeth Liz Yoder, 82, of Montgomery, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Liz was born in Hutchinson, KS, on September 14, 1928, a daughter of Sam and Katie (Miller) Schrock. She attended country school in Kansas and was united in marriage to John Kenneth Yoder at the Yoder Mennonite Church in Yoder, KS, on June 5, 1949. They moved to Jackson, MN, in 1950, and farmed for 49 years. Liz also was a cook's assistant at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jackson for many years. John died in 2002 and she moved to Montgomery in 2007. Liz was very active in both church and community organizations, most recently with St. John Lutheran Women of the Church, Women's Choir, and Sewing Group. She was a member of the Queen of Peace Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and Weavers Support Group in Mankato. She also participated daily with a local exercise group and Bible Study. Liz enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, reading, bird watching, Bible Study and playing with her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters Maridan (Mike) Nesmoe, Montgomery, Marcia (Dean) Stoesz, Akron, PA, and Vivian Y. DeAngelo, Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister Sue (Roger) Miller, Huntertown, IN; a brother Mel (Pauline) Schrock, S. Hutchinson, KS; sister-in-law Millie Schrock, S. Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren Sheila (Greg) Schoenbauer, Dawn (Kris) Anderson, Jeremy (Tara) Nesmoe, Libby and Becca Stoesz, Vonita Murray, DeAnna Murray Lehman, Andrew (and fiancé Katy) Murray and Ray DeAngelo; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Kenneth John; her parents; stepmother Fannie; two sisters Marie Dillinger and Mamie Munro; and two brothers Mervin and John Schrock.
A memorial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the spring at West Belmont Cemetery in Jackson.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are with Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
