Elko wins 2006 DRS Town and Country League championship

The Elko boys baseball team won this years Town and Country division championship, beating Union Hill 14-9. It was a well-played game at Union Hill on Monday, July 31, with upwards of 150 fans in attendance.

Highlights from the game for Elko included a two-run home run by Nick Daniels, who also pitched the first 5-2/3 innings. Elko catcher Jay Chlan had two big run scoring doubles. Ross Kelley made a key defensive play at third base with two out on a line drive with Union Hill runners in scoring position and pitched the final 1-1/3 innings. Mick Wald, Jose Martinez, and Tyler Bergstrom helped with strong games as well.
