Ella Vlasak, 89

Ella Rose Vlasak, 89, of Montgomery, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Ella was born on October 16, 1918, in Montgomery, a daughter of James and Rose (Hruby) Pelant. She attended school in Montgomery. On August 23, 1938, she married James M. Vlasak at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. A lifetime resident of Montgomery, she was a homemaker and farmer. Ella enjoyed cooking, providing for her family, gardening, flowers and dancing.

She is survived by seven sons Don (Donna), Montgomery, Tom (Sandy), New Prague, Clayton (Judy), Montgomery, Steve, Montgomery, Harry, Montgomery, James F. Jr., Montgomery and Rick, Montgomery; two daughters Donna (Ray) Friedges, Shakopee and Mary Lou (Jim) Glende, Waterville; sister-in-law Dorothy Peroutka, Montgomery; 31 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sons Norman, Roger and Joseph; daughter-in-law Bonnie Vlasak; a brother James Pelant Jr.; and a sister Sylvia Ruhland.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Rev. David Barrett officiating.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. Pallbearers were Ella's grandchildren Mike Friedges, Dan, Scott, Jesse, Chris, Brent, Corey and Randy Vlasak and Sheila Brokl. Honorary pallbearers were Dean, Dion, Troy, Brian, Jeff, Brandon and Michael Vlasak, Wayne Friedges and Pam Glende.

Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, with a rosary service at 4:15 p.m.
