Emil Svoboda, 87

Emil E. Svoboda, 87, of Montgomery, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Emil was born on March 6, 1925, in Montgomery, a son of Frank and Mary ( K a d e r l i k ) Svoboda. He attended St. Raphael Parochial School in Montgomery and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at the flour mill in New Prague. Emil was a member of the Montgomery American Legion. He enjoyed old time music, watching sports and gardening.

He is survived by sisters Lavonne (Bob) Olson, Grand Junction, CO, and Lorraine Young, Mahtomedi; sistersin- law Lee Svoboda, Montgomery, and Lois Svoboda, Chisago City; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Svoboda; his parents; and siblings Leonard Svoboda, Leo Svoboda, Elanor Chlan.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Friday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m.

Burial is at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Schoenabuer Funeral Home in Montgomery and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the Montgomery American Legion or Faribault Area Hospice.
