ENM council, chamber share concerns
The Elko New Market City Council at Thursday, Sept. 14, meeting discussed concerns that city’s Chamber of Commerce Board had about development in the community.
In an August 17 letter the Chamber noted how they and local businesses are "very concerned about the lack of development and growth in Elko New Market over the years." The letter listed five items as feedback and advice for the council. They included that it be easier for local businesses and other organizations to work with the city; that the city help or provide consultation in ways for developers and businesses in building in the community; that city council members be informed about development and actively participate; that city staff and council members be held accountable for action, as well as inactivity and that a strong succession plan be put in place so there is a smooth transition for key roles in city government.
