ENM Council discusses waiver of fee
The Elko New Market City Council unanimously adopted its schedule of fees for 2018 at its Thursday, Jan. 11, meeting. The vote came after a discussion to waive one fee, with an amended 2018 Fee Schedule showing Gambling Investigative Fee reduced to $0, which will be presented at a later council meeting.
City Administrator Tom Terry asked for the council to discuss and provide direction on waiving this year the $50 fee for background checks on groups that do gambling such as pull tabs in the city. Terry noted the check will still be done and it is on nonprofit groups in the community. He said the waiver of the fee was requested by the Firemen’s Relief Association.
Council member Trish Timmons said since it was such a small amount she didn’t have a problem with waiving the fee.
