ENM police garage discussions get heated
While discussions became heated at times over a proposed police garage, the Elko New Market City Council and the Elko Baseball Club will continue searching for a solution.
During the council's Thursday, Sept. 12, meeting the two groups talked about the proposed garage for the city's Police Department. Due to concerns about the foundation for the existing building, the garage is proposed to be built 10 feet from the department. While the garage is on property owned by the city it is adjacent to the Elko baseball field. The club contends the land was conveyed to the city for park purposes and that the location of the new garage would have negative impacts on access to the baseball field, parking availability and drainage north of the Police Department.
