The Elko New Market City Council set a public hearing for Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. regarding the proposed Market Village Residential Community, a combination senior housing-public library building.
The council set the hearing during its meeting Thursday, Sept. 23.
The four-story senior housing development would have 49 living units. The Elko New Market branch of the Scott County Library would also have space in the complex, which will be located on a six-acre site south of Scott County Road 2 (Elko New Market's Main Street) and west of J. Roberts Way.
Scott County and the city would finance the project, which is roughly estimated between $6 to $7 million. The Scott County Community Development Agency (CDA) is leading the project. Work is scheduled to begin in March 2011 with completion of the building a year later.
