By Chuck Kajer

Enrollment at New Prague Area Schools has gone up 8.7 percent from a year ago, based on first day of school enrollment figures from the district.

The biggest increase was at New Prague Primary School (K-2), which saw an increase of 86 students, from 636 students to 722, or 13.5 percent. This year’s kindergarten class has 249 students, compared to 222 last year.

New Prague High School (9-12) had an increase of 10.6 percent, or 102 students. That is largely due to the freshman class, which has 323 students, by far the largest of any in the district.
