Equestrian Club members earn honors

Members of the New Prague High School Equestrian Club gathered with 33 other high school clubs throughout the state for their annual awards banquet at the Medina Country Club Sunday, Nov. 10.

New Prague’s English team earned eighth place during the season, with seniors Mary Grace Nelson and Anna Menne. Both received their varsity letter in equestrian sports. Individual awards went to Nelson (English sixth place), Menne (English eighth place), and freshman Alyssa Rhoten (games sixth place).

Senior Jessica Randolph received the Presidential Volunteer Award for her many hours of volunteer service. Nelson was one of three recipients of the Most Valuable Club member award. To be nominated for this award the member must be a positive role model, lead by example, show respect for others, be committed and hard-working and exhibit a great deal of pride in their club, school and community.

The Minnesota High School Equestrian Association is open to riders of every skill level and ability. Registration begins in March for the 2014 season. For more information visit the website www.mhsea.org or the school district website at www.np.k12.mn.us under athletics and club actvities.
