Fall sports competition underway at NPHS

New Prague High Schools fall sports teams have begun competition for the 2013 season.

            The girls tennis team traveled to Mankato Tuesday, where they took second in the Mankato East Invitational (see story on this page). The team hosts Bloomington Kennedy Wednesday, travels to Mound Westonka Thursday, then hosts the New Prague Invitational on Saturday. Teams competing in the tournament include Glencoe-Silver Lake, Hopkins, Lakeville South, Princeton, Roseau, United South Central and St. Paul Central. The Trojans return to action Monday when they host Le Sueur-Henderson.

            The Trojan boys and girls soccer teams both face Mankato East on Thursday. The boys are on the road, playing at Kennedy Elementary, while the girls are at home. Both games are at 4 p.m. Both teams follow with home games Friday, the boys against Cannon Falls at 2:30 p.m. and the girls against Faribault at 4:30 p.m.

            The Trojan swimming team competes in the Missota Conference Relays Thursday, Aug. 22, at Northfield Middle School. Diving begins at 4 p.m. and swimming at 6 p.m.

            The Trojan volleyball team hosted seven Missota Conference schools in the Missota Jamboree Tuesday, Aug. 20. The team kicks off competition for real on Friday, Aug. 23, when they host Hopkins.

            The Trojan football and cross country teams start their competitive schedules next week.
