Family escapes house fire
A morning fire broke out and severely damaged a Montgomery home on Thursday, April 7, however nobody was injured.
Montgomery fire fighters were called to 1126 N. Ridge Dr. NW around 8 a.m. for a fire that reportedly started in the home’s garage.
According to Neil Vlasak, the EMS Director for the Montgomery Ambulance, the home’s residents were all able to escape the fire. He added a dog and cat were also rescued, however a second cat was unaccounted for at the time of the fire.
The house is owned by Rp Rentals LLC out of Lakeville.
At its peak, neighbors described the flames as high as the house, which lead the Montgomery Fire Department to call the New Prague Fire Department for assistance.
Both departments were on the scene for several hours.
After the fire was extinguished, two of the home’s occupants arrived on the scene, were visibly emotional and spoke with Police Chief John Schmidt, before leaving.
