Father Barrett new associate pastor at area churches

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

Father David Barrett, currently associate pastor at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, will be the new associate pastor for three area churches beginning Sunday, Nov. 1.

It was recently announced that Father Barrett will be the associate pastor for St. Wenceslaus in New Prague, St. Scholastica in Heidelberg and St. Thomas in St. Thomas.

Father Kevin Clinton, pastor of St. Wenceslaus, St. Scholastica and St. Thomas, noted he was delighted with the decision by Archbishop John Nienstedt of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis to assign Father Barrett to the three parishes.

Father Clinton explained that in a recent letter to the two parishes he said of Father Barrett's assignment, I am grateful and relieved of the appointment of Father David Barrett. I'm very convinced this assignment has challenges that will be very good for Father Barrett's growth as a young priest and a pastoral leader. I also believe that Father Barrett's likeableness in Montgomery will transfer easily to the neighboring parishes of St. Thomas and St. Scholastica.

Father Barrett's primary duties will be at St. Thomas and St. Scholastica. He will also help as the sacramental minister at Holy Redeemer and St. Canice Church in Kilkenny.

I think it's going to be an exciting challenge
