Feneis leads Bulldogs to tourney win
Left-hander Daniel Feneis allowed just three hits to lead the Union Hill Bulldogs past Fairfax 6-1 in the opening round of the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Class C Tournament Sunday, Aug. 18.
Feneis, who is entering his senior year at New Prague High School, had a shutout and a one-hitter through eight innings, but allowed two hits and hit one batter in the ninth in losing his shutout bid.
Union Hill went up 2-0 in the top of the fifth. Adam Giesen led off with the only hit of the inning. A sacrifice bunt, a couple of walks, an error and a hit batter allowed two runs to score. Giesen also drove in a run in the sixth, and the Bulldogs padded their lead with three in the top of the ninth
Union Hill will face Fergus Falls at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Maple Lake.
