Filling the truck...

St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague is a collection site for items needed for flood victims in Houston.
Steve Schmitt, a former New Prague resident who now lives in Eden Valley, has offered a semi trailer and a driver to deliver items to his contact in Houston.
The only items being accepted at this time are bottled water, basic toiletries, (shampoo, soap, deodorant, dental floss, toothpaste, toothbrushes and razors), toilet paper, disposable diapers (adult and infant), baby formula, disinfecting wipes and undergarments of all sizes.
The semi is located in the parking lot near the St. Wenceslaus Parish Activity Center.
The semi’s first night at St. Wenceslaus was Tuesday, Sept. 5, and traffic was steady in the first hour, with many people dropping off requested items. Laura Schoenecker and her niece, Shari Kreutzian, who is a friend of Schmitt’s, were on hand to accept the donations.
Drop off hours are weeknights from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The semi is scheduled to be on site until Wednesday, Sept. 13, or until it has been filled. For more and updated information, look at The New Prague Times Facebook page.
