Fire Department has a busy week

The New Prague Fire Department was busy last week.

On Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, the department was called to the New Prague Memorial Park baseball field, where the ticket booth had been set on fire. Damage was confined to the ticket booth area, and police are investigating the suspected arson.

On Thanksgiving morning, at about 10 a.m., the department was called to a fire in the area above Jimmy’s Pizza, on East Main Street. Authorities suspect a cigarette ignited a sofa in the upstairs area, which a band had been using for practice.
