Fire Dept. on scene of fire - updated

Updated information from Chief Ken Pavek.

The Montgomery Fire and Ambulance Departments were paged out at 1:48 p.m. on August 6, 2017, for a structure fire at 16200 Pepin Lane Montgomery.

According to Fire Chief Ken Pavek, arriving on scene, firefighters found a detached shed fully engulfed in flames.

“The fire was under control in 15 minutes but the shed and contents are a total loss. There was also a motorhome parked close to the shed that sustained damage,” he noted.

Crews were on scene for two hours checking for hot spots, investigating, and wrapping up equipment. Pavek said the cause appears to be started from a lawn mower that was just parked in the shed.

Pavek also clarified that there was no house involved in the fire.

The Chief also noted at the time of the call, the department had a truck and some members at the parade in Le Sueur who drove from that city due to it being a structure fire.

“We have enough equipment in town at all times to take care of a fire, but the extra personal  is always needed,” Pavek said.

There were no injuries from the fire and no calls were made for mutual aid for other fire departments.

The Montgomery Fire Dept. is now taking applications for firefighters. If anyone is interested, please fill out an application at City Hall or talk to any firefighter for more information.
