Up in flames
The last remains of propane were burned off from the old propane tank next to the former AMPI (American Milk Producers Incorporated) plant at the corner of Second Avenue and Second Street NW in New Prague Wednesday, Sept. 1. Joel McNally, owner of CMS Petroleum, purchased the tank from Geiger Properties, which bought the plant and the property earlier this year. McNally and a co-worker set up three stands to burn off any remaining propane fumes and pressure from the tank before they would transport it. The tank has been sold to Meadowland Co-op in Walnut Grove and was scheduled to be moved this week.
