Floor hockey splits first two games

The New Prague adapted floor hockey team split its first two games, losing to St. Paul Humboldt 11-2, then defeating South Suburban 9-3.

The team, which includes students from Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan, was scheduled to host Dakota United Tuesday, Jan. 26, then will be at Minneapolis Edison on Thursday, Jan. 28, before playing at Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Lakeville McGuire Middle School. New Prague hosts Winona Thursday, Feb. 4.

Hawks 11, Trojans 2 New Prague dropped its season opener to St. Paul Humboldt 11-2 at home Thursday, Jan. 14.

"We have a lot of players playing positions they have never played before and our inexperience really showed," said Coach Shellie Kriha.

"With some of our new players seeing game speed for the first time, we kind of expected this, but we are hoping that this will change as the year progresses."

New Prague goals came from Lydia Hayle and Brookelyn Skluzacek.

Trojan 9, Jets 3 New Prague opened up its offense and took a 9-3 win over South Suburban at home Tuesday, Jan. 19.
