Francis Busch, 87

Francis H. Busch, 87, of Minneapolis, formerly of New Prague, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.

Born October 11, 1921, at St. Benedict, Francis was a son of Henry and Elizabeth (Etten) Busch. A lifelong resident of New Prague, he attended St. Benedict Parochial School. He was a forklift operator in the warehouse for International Multifoods in New Prague, retiring after 29 years. Francis was a corporal in the U.S. Army, serving from 1942-45 during World War II. He married Adeline Rybak on September 7, 1946, in New Prague. Francis was a member of the Catholic Aid Association and a union member of the Federation of Grain Millers.

He is survived by five children Carrol (Jim) Stuber, Bloomington, Ken (Joan) Busch, Prior Lake, Gary (Rhonda) Busch, Des Moines, IA, Lloyd (Jean) Busch, Cottage Grove and Douglas Busch, Shakopee; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Ann Slavik Svobodny, New Prague; and a sister-in-law Patricia Busch, New Prague.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on October 31, 1997; grandson Jason Busch in infancy; and a brother Donald Busch.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague, and military rites were conducted. Pallbearers were Jenna Stuber, Jason Busch, Michael Francis Busch, Thomas Busch, Jesse Busch and Nicole Busch.

Visitation was held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
