Francis Peroutka, 82

Francis J. Peroutka, 82, of New Prague, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009.

Francis was born in New Prague on January 20, 1927, a son of Wenceslaus and Josephine (Kubes) Peroutka.                                                                                       He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and graduated from New Prague High School in 1944. He married Marian Tikalsky at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague on October 23, 1948.  Francis farmed on a fourth generation farm south of New Prague in Lanesburgh Township for over 50 years. He also drove school bus for the New Prague School District for nearly 25 years. He was an altar boy and involved in the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a Third Degree Knight. Francis was involved with organic farming and the sustainable agriculture movement. His passions included farming, listening to old time music, playing cards and checkers. He also was great at fixing and repairing.

He is survived by his wife; children Marjean (Bill) Beranek, New Prague and Jane (Chuck) Norton, Chaska; grandchildren Tony and Evan Beranek and Cassy Norton; and sisters-in-law Evelyn Kocina and Arvilla Sivek.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Joshua Norton; and sister-in-law Eleanor Adamek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. 

Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers will be Tony Beranek, Evan Beranek, Bill Beranek, Cassy Norton, Chuck Norton, Bill Sirek, Roger Sirek, Tom Adamek, Alfred Gassman and Jeremy Geske. 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
