Francis Prochaska, 86
Francis John Prochaska, 86, of Montgomery, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Francis, a son of Frank and Mayme (Odenthal) Prochaska, was born in Heidelberg on July 17, 1922. He attended school in Heidelberg and then joined the U.S. Navy, serving from January 22, 1945 until June 25, 1946. On June 24, 1947, he married Evelyn Wolf, and they farmed. Francis also worked for Lanesburgh Township for 30 years and for Le Sueur County for 15 years. He also worked for Ray O'Brien Trucking. He was a member of the Montgomery VFW and American Legion posts and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife; nine children James Sam (Carol) Prochaska, Montgomery, Kathy Prochaska, St. Peter, Greg Butch (Saundra) Prochaska, China, Dan (Ann) Prochaska, Montgomery, Margo (Jack) Mauser, Cleveland, Teri (Jesse) Novak, Savage, Steven (Jeri) Prochaska, New Market, Tom (Julie) Prochaska, Montgomery and Lisa Prochaska Sole, Kentucky; a sister Mary Ann Ruhland, Montgomery; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother in infancy Francis James Prochaska.
Funeral services were at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m.
Burial was at the St. Scholastica Church Cemetery in Heidelberg, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation was held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
