George Horejsi, 84
George F. Horejsi, 84, of New Prague, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.
Born June 5, 1924, at Webster, George was a son of Edward and Julia (Simek) Horejsi. He attended Rice County District School. He farmed until 1957 and then worked at Cenex (New Prague) Tire Repair and as custodian for the New Prague School District. George married Jeanette Mikolasek on June 8, 1948, in New Prague. He loved old time music and dancing.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter Theresa (Richard) Reiner, Hutchinson; siblings Edward (Inez) Horejsi, Northfield and Martha Kajer, West Virginia; brother-in-law Francis Mikolasek, New Prague; sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Myles) Voracek, South St. Paul, Judith (John) Siemon, New Prague and Patricia (David) Mager, Le Center; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Mary Horejsi, in infancy in 1933.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.
Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Casket bearers were John Siemon, Dave Mager, Mark Bezek, Ken Horejsi, Mike Anderson and Jeff Dols. Honorary casket bearers were Francis Mikolasek, Myles Voracek, Orville Krohn and Travis Dols.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. A parish rosary was held at 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
