George J. Jirik, 82

George J. Jirik, 82, of Lonsdale, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

George was a past assistant manager of the Webster Co-op. He was a veteran of World War II and was a past commander of the Lonsdale American Legion Post. He was also a member of the Lonsdale Fire and Rescue and Catholic Workman Association. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Inez; children, Anne (Mike) Trnka, Robert (Jan) & Lisa (Tim) Skluzacek; grandchildren, Curt, Emily and Benjamin Trnka, Katie, Amy, Kelly and Andy Jirik; Megan and Jack Skluzacek; brothers, Ray and John Jirik; sisters, Helen Smisek, Sister Emeria Jirik, Rosie Skluzacek, Sister Paulissa Jirik and Sister Rita Jirik.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale, with military rites provided by the Lonsdale American Legion and honor guard by the Lonsdale Fire Department.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home Lonsdale Chapel, and also one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday morning.
