George Kallal, 91

George M. Kallal, 91, of Lonsdale, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.

George served with the Naval Air Force during WWII, and married his wife, Alvina, on May 30, 1944, in Clinton, OK. He was a life member and past commander of the Lonsdale American Legion, and a member of the Lonsdale Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years, serving as chief for 18. He was also a member of the New Prague Knights of Columbus and a DAV life member. George and Alvina owned and operated Kelly's Bar in Lonsdale for 33 years.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years; a daughter Georgia “Jeannie” (Raymond) Greenbush; daughter-in-law Jane Kallal; grandchildren Joseph and Kim Kallal and Jeffery (Laurie) and Brad Greenbush; great-grandchildren Evan Kallal, Kaylie, Grace, Grant and Kade Greenbush; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son Dennis Kallal; his parents Joseph and Ludmila (Sticha) Kallal; brothers Bill (Florence), Frank E. and Ray (Jane) Kallal.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale.

Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Monday, Feb. 4. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the White Funeral Home in Lonsdale, and Saturday one hour prior to services, also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to the I.C. Church.
