New Prague High School's girls cross country team took part in the 37-team Montgomery-Lonsdale Redbird Invitational Thursday, Sept. 7. The team finished in seventh place in the strong field.

Waseca won the meet with 57 points, with Blake (83), Prior Lake (122), Fairmont (132) and Shakopee (134) rounding out the top five. Mound-Westonka was sixth with 183, followed by the Trojans with 242.

Claire Richardson of Blake was medallist in the 4,000-meter race, finishing in 14 minutes, 54 seconds.

Top Trojan finisher was Amanda Wagner, who was 24th with a time of 17:02. Annie Connelly was 35th, in 17:25. Jenny Hendricks was 41st in 17:33, Charlie Herrmann was 71st in 18:08 and Molly Tikalsky was 79th in 18:14. Other Trojan runners were Veronica Kneeland (18:22) and Kelsey Weibusch (19:44). Coach Julie Berg said the seventh place finish was a bit of a letdown after the team had placed in the top five the past two years.
