Girls basketball team gets top seed, winning streak at 15 games
As expected, New Prague's girls basketball team received the No. 1 seed in Section 1AAA and will host Faribault in the first round of the section tournament. The game will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at New Prague Middle School. Other first round games have No. 7 Winona at No. 2 Albert Lea, No 6 Austin at No. 3 Northfield and No. 5 Red Wing at No. 4 Waseca.
Last week, New Prague High School's girls basketball team continued its winning ways, adding three more to the wins column. On Tuesday, the Trojans registered their 15th consecutive win with a 57-41 victory over Prior Lake to clinch at least a tie for the Missota Conference title.
New Prague hosts Shakopee Friday evening at the New Prague Middle School gym. A win by the Trojans will give them the conference title outright.
Farmington, Red Wing and Mankato West fell victim to the Trojans last week. New Prague (19-4, 12-1 Missota) is ranked No. 4 in Class AAA.
Trojans 54, Tigers 44
New Prague led 30-19 at halftime and held on for a 10-point win Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Farmington.
Whitney Trecker led the Trojans with 28 points, including 17 in the first half. Amanda Wagner and Becky Theisen added nine each for the Trojans.

Trojans 56, Wingers 45
Trecker again led the Trojans, putting up 30 points as New Prague defeated Red Wing 56-45 Thursday, Feb. 15.
The senior forward continued her scoring binge, dropping 30 points on the Wingers.
Trecker is averaging more than 21 points a game on the season and in February has been averaging 25.5 points per game. She had 18 points at halftime for the Trojans. Theisen added 15 for New Prague.
The game was close until New Prague went on a 14-0 run late in the first half.

New Prague left no doubt about the outcome of this game, burying the Scarlets in the first half. New Prague allowed only 16 points in the opening session, as Whitney Trecker scored 15 points and Hannah Strop added nine. They would finish with 27 and 13 points respectively. Rena Kneeland came off the bench to score nine.
New Prague had the chance to empty its bench throughout the game, as 15 different players saw action, and nine of them found their way into the scoring column.
No West players hit double figures.
