Girls drop conference game to Sibley East

The Titan girls basketball team dropped a tough conference battle with Sibley East on Friday night.
According to Tri-City United Coach Kevin Woitas, the Titans went into halftime with a 25-22 lead, but Sibley East came out firing in the second half to take a 39-25 with 10 minutes left to go in the game.
“I called a timeout to slow the Wolverine momentum, and to make a few player substitutions. I needed to get the players on the floor that wanted to win," said Woitas.  "There were too many girls who didn't come to play."   The plan worked as Coach Woitas only made one substitution in the next eight minutes.
With 2:14 left in the game, the score had been knotted at 39-39.
"We played very good defense, and made good choices on offense during those eight minutes," said Woitas.
However, the Titans couldn't hold on as the Wolverines took the game in the final minutes with 45-39 victory.   Sophomore Courtney Hentges led the Titans in scoring with 13 points.  Alyshia Angileno added 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Joslyn Vargo added 7 points.  Megan Steffen had 4 points.  Danielle Angileno had 3 points.
The Titans next game will be at home on Thursday night against Mayer Lutheran.
