Girls golf team looking strong

The New Prague Trojan girls golf team continued its winning ways last week. They easily outdistanced the field, winning by 24 strokes at a nine-team meet at Heritage Links in Lakeville, then taking command of the Missota Conference standings with a strong showing at Northfield.

The latest state ratings show New Prague as the No. 3-ranked team in the state, behind Minnewaska Area and Woodbury. Steffi Neisen is the top-ranked individual in class AAA, with Amber Houser ranked No. 9.



at Heritage Links

New Prague's 337 finished far in front of second-place Bloomington Jefferson Wednesday, April 22, at Heritage Links in Lakeville. The Jaguars shot a 361 for second place, followed by Owatonna (381), Chaska (384), Holy Family (385), Prior Lake (402), Lakeville South (406), Hastings (409) and Rochester Century (478).

New Prague's Steffi Neisen was medallist, shooting a 72, 10 strokes better than Jefferson's Molly Erickson. The Trojan's Amber Houser was fourth with an 84 and McKenzie Neisen was fifth with an 88.

Emily Culshaw shot a career-best 93 and played a part in the team's success. Ashley Houser and Mary Pat Seter also played well.

at Northfield GC

New Prague finished with a 336 at the Northfield Golf Club, and coach Matt Shetka said the match marked the first time he can recall that the Trojans won an eight-team conference match.
