Girls send 9 to Section Track Meet

The TCU girls track and field team are sending 9 athletes to the section track meet, next weekend in Mankato.
The following girls qualified for the next round of competition after the Subsection meet held on Thursday in Le Sueur:
Brianna Berninghaus in the 100-meter dash qualified after finishing 2nd with a time of 12.93. Berninghaus did it again in the 200m dash, winning the event with a time of 26.65. Joining her will be Megan Rutt who finished 3rd with a time of 27.96.
In the 300m hurdles, Kristi Frederick took 2nd place and qualified for sections with a time of 47.80.
The 4x100 relay team of Claire McCrady, Frederick, Sydney Vargo and Megan Rutt finished 2nd with a time of 52.83. 
The 4x200 relay team of Frederick, Rutt, Megan Steffan and Berninghaus finished 2nd and qualified for sections with a time of 1:51.
Edith Martinez finished second in the girls high jump with a leap of 5 feet, enough for a chance at the section event.
McCrady won the pole vault event with a vault of 9 feet. She also qualified in the long jump when she took second place with a leap of 16 feet, 1.25 inches.
In the discus throw, Michaela Wood came in 4th with a throw of 104 feet, 3 inches, qualifying her for subsection. Wood also did well in the shot put, winning the event with a throw of 35 feet, 5 inches.
Overall, the Titans finished third with 152 points behind St. Peter in 2nd with 200 points, and 1st place Belle Plaine/Holy Family Academy with 247.5 points.
