Girls track takes 2nd at Missota Relays

New Prague gave Prior Lake a run for their money, but came up just short at the Missota Conference Girls Relays Tuesday, May 3, in Shakopee.

Prior Lake won the meet with 189 points, while New Prague was second with 179. The rest of the field had Shakopee third with 133, followed by Red Wing (113), Holy Angels (112), Hutchinson (110), Northfield (100) and Farmington (86).

New Prague had six first place finishes. They were

• 300-meter hurdles (Katie Theisen, Shelbie Johnson, Jill Bartusek and junior Emily Bisek) 3 minutes, 28 seconds;

• Short sprint medley (Erin Sand, eighth grader Emily Bisek, Whitney Trecker and Becky Theisen) 1:56.43;

• 4x200 relay (K. Theisen, Danielle Busch, eighth grader Emily Bisek and Trecker) 1:53.06;

• 4x400 relay (K. Theisen, Kristin Busch, Trecker and B. Theisen) 4:13.46;

• Triple jump (K. Theisen, K. Busch and junior Emily Bisek) 100 feet;

• Pole vault (Melanie Deutsch, Erin Hammes and Amanda Wagner) 21-6.

Taking second for the Trojans were long jump (Becky Theisen, Britt Rynda and Kimby Kukacka); shot put (Sara Gerold, Kristin Busch and Kevynn Prochaska); and discus (B. Theisen, Gerold and Megan Hedstrom).

The Trojans took third in the high jump, with Jenny Hendricks, Deutsch and Johnson adding to a total of 13-4.

Home Triangular

New Prague defeated Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and St. Clair in a three-team triangular Thursday. The Trojans had 102 points, with WEM finishing with 54 and St. Clair 27.

New Prague dominated the meet, taking first place in 12 of 17 events.

First place finishers were

• Becky Theisen - long jump (15-2)

• Kristin Busch - triple jump (35-1)

• Melanie Deutsch - pole vault (8-6)

• 4x800 relay (Amanda Wagner, Megan Wagner, Annie Connelly, Jenny Hendricks) (11:06.25)

• 100 hurdles - junior Emily Bisek (18.43)

• 100 meters - Becky Theisen (13.5)

• 4x200 relay (Whitney Trecker, Danielle Busch, eighth grader Emily Bisek, Erin Sand) (1:53.13)

• 1600 meters - Hendricks (5:54)

• 400 - eighth grader Emily Bisek (1:03.59)

• 300 hurdles - Katie Theisen 47.37 (school record)

• 800 - Amanda Wagner (2:39.25)

• 4x400 relay (K. Theisen, K. Busch, Trecker, B. Theisen) (4:15).

Conference meet next week

The Trojans have a meet at Richfield Thursday, then will compete in the Missota Conference championships Monday and Wednesday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.


Trojans win True Team Section meet

New Prague won the Section 1AA True Team section meet Tuesday at Red Wing.

The Trojans finished with 448.5 points, well ahead of second place Byron, with 401.5. The rest of the field: Red Wing 386.5, Dover-Eyota/St. Charles 359.5, Austin 351, Stewartville 296.5, Kasson-Mantorville 278, Rochester Lourdes 232, Cannon Falls 126.5.

The Trojans will compete in the State True Team meet Saturday, May 21, at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
