Girls win 2AAA title

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team survived a comeback bid by Mankato East and claimed the Section 2AAA championship with a 54-52 win at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter Thursday, March 7. 

New Prague will play in the State Class AAA tournament Wednesday, March 13, at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus. Pairings will be announced Saturday morning and posted on this website when they become available. 

Lexi Ruehling led the Trojans with 14 points, while Annie Dittberner had 12 and Ella Grote 10. East trailed by 10 points with about five minutes remaining, but closed to within a point with 13 seconds left.

This will be the Trojans' eighth trip to state. They last qualified for the tournament in 2010.
