Gladys Novotny, 82

Gladys J. Novotny, 82, of rural New Prague, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at Queen of Peace Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Dave Barrett officiating.

Interment was held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.

Visitation prior to the funeral was held Monday, Jan. 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.

Gladys was born July 23, 1923 to James and Mary (Nerud) Honza. A lifetime resident of New Prague, she attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, then married George A. Novotny.

Gladys enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, playing cards, gardening, and socializing with friends.

Surviving Gladys are sons Gaylen (Geri) Novotny of Montgomery, Garlen Novotny of California; daughter LaDene (Elroy) Novotny of Maple Lake; sisters Evelyn Turek of Montgomery, and Ella Malecha of California; and grandchildren Shannon, Shawn, Cameron and Samantha Novotny.

She was preceded in death by husband George on May 30, 1965, parents James and Mary Honza, brother Ted Honza, sister Leona Horejsi, and brothers-in-law Laddy Malecha and Emil Turek.
