Great job, New Prague!

Great weather, great organization and a great community effort made for an outstanding Dozinky Festival this past weekend.

More than 10,000 people are estimated to have been onhand for Saturday’s festivities. From the opening national anthem played in the Czech Village to the final note played by the band Under the Covers during the Saturday street dance, Dozinky went off pretty much as planned.

New Prague loves a party, and this one was one of the best-attended Dozinkys in recent memory. It is an awesome sight to be looking eastward up the hill on Main Street at the end of the parade and seeing the hundreds, if not thousands of people walking toward the downtown area to continue the celebration. Food and craft vendors continue to marvel at the crowds and many are eagerly looking forward to returning next year.

It is impossible to name the many people who go into making the Dozinky Festival a success, but it is necessary to recognize the staff and board members of the New Prague Chamber of Commerce for all the work they do not just during Dozinky weekend, but in the days, weeks and even months leading up to the event. A successful event like this does not happen overnight, and the people in charge of all of the logistics - from the parade lineup to the ordering and placement of barricades, signs and portapottys, do a great job in making Dozinky a success.
