Gretchen Hill, 87
Gretchen Hill, 87, was born in Northern California; between Sacramento and the Oregon border. Unusual at the time, she was brought into the world by a lady doctor. When she was 4, her mom brought her to Red Wing, Minnesota. Gretchen graduated from Red Wing High School, and then furthered her education in the medical field. She worked as an LPN her whole life, up until 1991, when she retired. In 1947, Gretchen married David W. Hill. Together, they raised six children.
Gretchen was involved in several organizations, including, Eastern Star, The Jordan VFW Auxiliary, where she was president for 5 years, New Prague Legion Auxiliary and Immanuel United Methodist Church, in Jordan.
Gretchen is survived by her children, David M., of New Prague, William B., of Hayes, VA, and Marion (Robert) Brokke, of Eden Prairie, son-in-law Gale Groth and grandkids, Jamie Groth and David Groth, all of Hastings.
A celebration of Gretchen’s life was held on Monday, September 16 at 10 a.m. from the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jordan, with Larry Kasten officiating. Arrangements were with the Wagner Funeral Home of Jordan.
