Gymnasts open season with 2 meets

The New Prague Trojans opened the season with two meets, at the Waconia Invitational and a home meet with Lakeville North. The Trojans are at home on Thursday, Dec. 21, against Orono, then break for Christmas. They return to competition Thursday, Jan. 4, with a triangular at Annandale.

Waconia Invitational After their scheduled season opener against Breck was cancelled, the New Prague Trojan gymnastics team opened their 2017-18 season Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Waconia Invitational. New Prague took fourth place out of six team.

Owatonna won the meet with a score of 144.5, followed by Waconia (138.05), Edina (135.5), New Prague (132.8), Orono (125.75) and Richfield (116.45).

Trojan scores on the vault were Grace Montgomery (8.6) Emmalyn Dickerson (8.6), Allie Eischens (8.25) and Sophie Guerrette (7.9).

On bars, top Trojan was Eischens (8.8), followed by Dickerson (8.3), Caitlyn Pint (7.1) and Montgomery (6.6).

On beam, Eischens had the Trojans’ top score (9.2), followed by Belle Clancy (8.7), Lauren Kitner (8.35) and Dickerson (8.2).

On floor, the Trojans were led by Dickerson (8.9), followed by Guerrette (8.8), Clancy (8.6) and Kitner (8.25).

Panthers 143.625, Trojans 137.05 New Prague hosted defending Section 2AA and state champion Lakeville North Thursday, Dec. 14, and had a good outing in losing to the Panthers.
