Helen Sladek, 60
Helen Trcka-Sladek, 60, of Montgomery, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Helen was born in New Prague on November 30, 1948, a daughter of Mike and Sylvia (Shetka) Trcka. She attended country school and graduated from Montgomery High School. She was married to Ivan Sladek in 1967. They were later divorced. Helen worked for Munsingwear for 20 years and then went to school to become a beautician. She worked at several locations, the latest being Debby's Trim and Tannery in Le Center for 12 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and loved gardening, visiting with people, styling hair and spending time with her grandson, Christian.
She is survived by children Joyce and Jeff Sladek, both of Montgomery; her mother; grandson Christian Jeffrey Sladek, Montgomery; a brother Emil Trcka, Montgomery; sisters Joni (Al) Janousek, Shakopee, Rosie (Jack) Widmer, Heidelberg, Betty (Joe) Pecholt, Heidelberg and Dorothy Trcka, Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother Tom Trcka.
Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery on Tuesday, April 28 at 11 a.m.
Burial was at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
